Honda Grom Injects Youth into Honda’s Bike Market

The Honda Grom is an all-new motorcycle, and it’s also drawing all-new customers to the Honda motorcycle market. The Grom’s name comes from the word “grommet,” a term used to describe young surfers, specifically ones who are particularly good at their craft.  It’s a small but sexy choice in the motorcycle market, and it’s Honda’s ticket to a whole new generation of bike buyers.

“We need this market to grow,” said Bill Savino, manager of American Honda MC Press. “The boomers are going out. We need new riders going in.” They must be coming in droves, in fact, as dealers are currently not only sold out of the Grom, but have waiting lists 40 names deep for it.

Greg Guthrie, owner of Huntington Beach Honda, says the bike’s success is due to its mass appeal. “Every day we have three or four people ask about it,” Guthrie said. “I’ve been in the business 25 years, and I can’t remember a unit that has had a wider cross-section of buyers.”

So come talk to us about the Honda Grom today—we’ll try to get you on a waiting list that is less than 40 names long, but we can’t guarantee it! Hurry in to Avery Greene Honda today!

2014 Honda CR-V

Honda Sales up 1.1 Percent in April

Despite a weak overall sales month for the entire automobile industry, Honda and Acura are happy to announce a 1.1 percent increase in sales when compared to April 2013.

2014 Honda CR-V

The Honda CR-V set a Honda sales record in month of April.

Most notable for the month of April were sales for the Honda CR-V, which were up 7.4 percent and set a new April sales record for the crossover SUV. The ever-popular Civic and Accord also demonstrated strong gains for the month, increasing by 4.4 percent and 1.7 percent, respectively.

Honda’s management generously puts the weight of these Honda sales increases on dedicated Honda buyers and dealerships.

“More than any other automaker our success is based on one customer at a time going down to their Honda dealer to purchase a new vehicle, and in April, we see the power of our retail sales strategy at work,” said Jeff Conrad, a spokesperson for Honda.

Avery Greene Honda would like to echo Jeff’s statement! Let’s keep this Honda sales streak going! Visit our dealership today in Vallejo, California to take a test drive in a brand new Honda vehicle like the Civic, Accord, CR-V or Odyssey. 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid

Two Honda Vehicles Awarded Place on 10 Best Green Cars List

Throughout the car industry, more and more carmakers are rushing to become the leader in the eco-friendly, green car segment. Honda appears to be two steps ahead of the competition, though, after KBB.com announced that both the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid and the 2014 Honda Civic Natural Gas are on their list of the 10 Best Green Cars of 2014.

2014 Honda Accord Hybrid

The 2014 Accord Hybrid and Civic Natural Gas were named top green cars!y

“For customers looking to purchase vehicles that have low CO2 emissions, Honda has two great options on KBB.com’s list—the fun-to-drive, fuel efficient Accord Hybrid and the Civic Natural Gas powered without a drop of gasoline,” said Steven Center, vice president of the Environmental Business Development Office at American Honda Co., Inc. “This recognition from Kelley Blue Book validates the efforts of Honda engineers who for decades have continued to work towards out goal to leave ‘Blue Skies for our Children.’”

These awards come as no surprise for those critics and consumers who have driven these two cars. The Accord Hybrid is known for its excellent performance skills and an EPA-estimated 50 mpg city fuel economy, while the Civic Natural Gas makes a lasting impression with its use of clean-burning fuel, saving consumers up to 40% in estimated fuel costs compared to a gasoline-powered car.

If you want to see what these two cars have to offer for yourself, make sure you stop by Avery Greene Honda today!

Honda Fit

2015 Honda HR-V is a Fit Crossover, and That’s About All We Know

Everybody is more than a little excited about the 2015 Honda Fit, and with good reason: it stands to be one of the most exciting small cars on the market this year. While the Fit represents Honda at the pinnacle of small car mastery, the all-new 2015 Honda HR-V will express Honda’s potential to dominate the compact SUV market.

Honda Fit

The all-new Honda HR-V will be a CUV offshoot of the Honda Fit!

“Both Fit and HR-V demonstrate how great things can come in small packages, and no one does this better than Honda,” said Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of the Honda automobile division for American Honda, in a press release. “Together these models also represent Honda’s step-by-step expansion of our production in the region, which has been key to our success in America for more than 30 years.”

So what do we know so far about the HR-V? It shares a lot of its bones with the Fit, with both being built on the same platform. It’s something of a riff off of the Urban S.U.V. that appeared in New York at this same time last year, and based on the pictures we’ve seen, it looks quite sharp.

That, as they say, is the story so far. There were no specs released, though we could assume that the HR-V will get the same four-cylinder engine that will power the sporty fit. We do know that Honda has projected for a winter release…oh, how cruel is Honda to make us think that there will be a next winter.

We will have more information on the 2015 HR-V as it becomes available to your trusted Avery Greene Honda bloggers.

New Honda NM4 Motorcycle Inspiration from Hollywood

Admit it: last time you watched any of the Chris Nolan Batman trilogy, you found yourself thinking, “Man I want to drive that thing,” whenever Batman got behind the wheel of one of his various Batmobiles. If you’re like us here at Avery Greene Honda, though, you might be especially interested in the motorcycles, like the one that Catwoman drives around toward the end of The Dark Knight Rises. You’re in luck: here comes Honda with the new NM4 motorcycle.

While the NM4 actually takes a lot of its design inspiration from the Akira universe—something that will be familiar to any fans of Japanese manga or anime out there—with its gracefully bulky, black sculpture, the NM4 would look totally at home in a Nolan movie. The NM4’s keywords during design included “COOL” and “the Neo-futuristic,” and the finished exhibition model certainly delivers.

The new bike debuted at the 2014 Osaka Motorcycle Show; actually, Honda brought two different exhibition models along, an all-black one as well as one with white accents. We’re still waiting for word on when exactly this innovative new bike will hit the market, so make sure to check back with us often on the blog for updates. For now, simply enjoy these great photos of the brand new NM4!

2014 Honda Odyssey

Honda Odyssey Named Best Minivan for Families by U.S News & World Report

The 2014 Honda Odyssey broke new ground when it hit the market in late 2013 and became the first automobile to offer an in-vehicle vacuum cleaner, making it a hit with parents of particularly messy children. Now, U.S. News & World Report is reaffirming the Odyssey’s family utility once more by naming it their “Best Minivan for Families” for a fourth consecutive year. The 2014 Odyssey, which topped U.S. News & World Report’s minivan rankings for 2014 as well, receives plaudits once more for the talents it has fine-tuned over the years: handling, safety, comfort, and fuel efficiency.

2014 Honda Odyssey

The 2014 Honda Odyssey was named the Best Minivan for Families this year.

“The Odyssey was designed to excel in one of the harshest environments on earth, daily family use,” said Mike Accavitti, senior vice president of automobile operations for American Honda, in a press release. “Being named ‘Best Minivan for Families,’ four years in a row speaks volumes about the Odyssey’s singular commitment to be the ultimate family vehicle.”

U.S. News & World Report’s Best Cars for Families are determined based upon reviews, safety and reliability ratings, family-oriented features, and passenger/cargo utility.

Provided that the Odyssey is the only minivan to earn the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) TOP SAFETY PICK+ distinction, as well as the recipient of an NHTSA 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score, its safety is impeccable. Given the Odyssey’s status as the best selling minivan in America, its popularity is unquestioned.

These factors make the 2014 Odyssey’s place n U.S. News & World Report’s Best Cars for Families list something of a lock. The addition of the groundbreaking HondaVAC system? Well, that’s just icing on the cake. Want to see what makes the Odyssey perfect for family needs? Come check one out today at Avery Greene Honda!

Honda Ups Its Game at Mexico Plant for 2015 Honda Fit

Honda is celebrating the production start of the redesigned 2015 Fit at its new Honda de Mexico automobile plant. Thanks to the plant’s advanced technology, Honda believes it can significantly improve its ability to meet consumer demand for fuel-efficient subcompact vehicles.

2015 Honda Fit

Honda is expanding its Mexico production facility in anticipation of the 2015 Fit.

The plant, which was constructed starting only two years ago in Celaya, Guanajuato, will employ 3,200 associates with an annual capacity of 200,000 vehicles and engines when it reaches full production capacity later this year—increasing Honda’s annual automobile production in North America to about 1.92 million units. This also means that Honda will now be producing more than 95% of all its vehicles in North America compared to the 90% that it does now.

Keeping in line with the Honda Fit’s environmentally-friendly theme, the new plant also takes efficiency to the next level. Here, check it out:

  • A high-speed servo stamping press and high-speed die change process have increased the efficiency of the stamping process by about 40%
  • An all-new welder system allows for less welding robots while increasing the number of weld points, improving quality and efficiency
  • A new water-based painting process reduces energy consumption during the painting process by about 40% while enhancing paint finish quality.

And these are just a few of the improvements! The all-new 2015 Honda Fit will go on sale later in spring 2014 at Avery Greene Honda!

Honda Offers Discounts on Solar Energy to Customers

Honda has joined forces with SolarCity to help make solar energy more practical and affordable for Honda and Acura customers.

The campaign, which aims to bring attention to climate change and decrease CO2 emissions from cars, homes and buildings, will offer $65 million nationwide to subsidize initial solar power startup costs for Honda and Acura customers’ homes. By reducing or removing costs to install solar energy units, Honda hopes to ease the transitions to solar energy from utilities and ultimately lower monthly bills for consumers.

“At Honda, we are always looking at ways to improve the lives of our customers while reducing our environmental footprint,” said Steven Center, a Honda spokesperson. “We believe Honda and Acura customers are going to be very interested in going solar once they find out that they can install solar at their home with little or no upfront cost, can lower their monthly utility bill, and can make a positive contribution to protecting the environment.”

This campaign will mark the first partnership between an auto manufacturer and a solar energy organization. The offer is available for Honda customers in the 14 states that Solar City services, including California, Oregon, Washington and Colorado.

To learn more about the campaign, or to find out if you are eligible for the solar energy offer, visit www.hondasolarcity.com.
