Honda Leads Industry with Eight ENERGY STAR Plants in America

Honda News | Avery Greene Honda | Vallejo, CA

Honda now has eight plants that are leading the pack in energy efficiency within the American market. Four of the brand’s mass production auto plants, two transmission plants, and two engine plants have earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ENERGY STAR Certificate for Outstanding Energy Efficiency.

These awards are helping highlight the Honda brand’s commitment to reducing CO2 emissions with practices that are environmentally friendly. Honda is the only carmaker that’s received this EPA distinction at all of its U.S.-based mass production auto plants.

The EPA began awarding the prestigious distinction in 2006. The Honda Marysville Auto Plant and East Liberty Auto Plant in Ohio received the award for the 15th year in a row, while Honda Manufacturing of Indiana received it for the ninth consecutive year. Honda Manufacturing of Alabama received it for the fourth time, while the engine plant there was recognized for the second time.

The Anna, Ohio engine plant also received its third award, while the Honda Transmission Manufacturing plant in Russells Point, Ohio, earned its second. The Honda Precision Parts of Georgia won the award for the first time.

Honda has reduced its CO2 emissions in North America by 27.5 percent since 2010 in a number of ways, from reducing water waste and energy use to cutting down on waste and emissions.

New Honda Brand Campaign Goes Rugged

Honda Ridgeline | Vallejo, CA | Avery Greene Honda

When you think “rugged,” you might not automatically think of Honda. The brand is looking to change that, though, with its newest brand campaign.

A new Honda brand campaign focuses on the bold capability that each of the Honda SUVs and truck has to offer. The first spot in the campaign focuses on the 2021 Passport and Pilot, including the Pilot Special Edition. It focuses on their on- and off-road capability, while also giving consumers a glimpse of the redesigned 2021 Ridgeline.

“Honda SUVs and trucks have always had excellent on-road manners and surprising off-road capabilities,” said Jay Joseph, vice president of Automobile Marketing, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “In a truck-trending market, we will showcase Honda SUVs and our pickup in environments that display the capabilities hidden beneath their sleek exteriors, demonstrating they can face most any challenge en route to that next great adventure.”

The new commercials are also the debut of the Honda brand’s new voice — actor and WWE superstar, John Cena. Cena’s voice will be used across all of the marketing for Honda cars and light trucks.

“I’m looking forward to this new relationship with Honda because I’ve always been a big fan of Honda products, and how deeply involved they are in the community,” said Cena.

Each model of the brand’s award-winning light truck lineup will appear in this new multi-channel brand campaign. It will also show off the company’s off-road powersports products, such as the Honda Talon sport side-by-side.

How to Transport a Christmas Tree

How to Transport a Christmas Tree | Vallejo, CA | Avery Greene Honda

There’s nothing that says it’s the holidays quite like a live tree strung with bright lights and with presents nestled underneath it. If you’re planning on heading out to a tree farm in Vallejo this year, though, it’s important that you know how to transport a Christmas tree home safely. These are the tips you should keep in mind when you pick up your tree.

Have the right vehicle. Before you get your tree, make sure you have the right vehicle. A truck like the Toyota Tacoma or a SUV like the Toyota Highlander are solid options, though any vehicle that has a roof rack is good.

Bring the correct tools with you. You will need the right tools to keep the tree on the roof, since it needs to be extremely secure — especially if you’re traveling at high speeds on a California highway. The right supplies include nylon ratchet straps and a blanket to put under the tree so you can protect your vehicle’s paint job. You should also make sure that your tree is bagged or netted before you load it up on the roof.

Position it properly. When you place the tree on the top of your roof, make sure that the tree’s trunk is facing the front of your vehicle. This makes it more aerodynamic and less likely to fly off the vehicle. You should anchor it to the car right above the bottom branches and towards the top of the tree, too.

Once you know how to transport a Christmas tree, you’ll be able to make spirits bright every season going forward. The team at Avery Greene Honda hopes to make your spirits bright, too, the next time you visit us for service or when you’re shopping for a new vehicle.
