New Honda Model Interiors Will Prioritize Human-Centered Simplicity

2022 Honda Civic Interior | Avery Greene Honda | Vallejo, CA

Want a glimpse into what Honda has in store for its future models? Check out the video recently released by the automaker that reveals the brand’s new interior design philosophy.

As highlighted in this exciting announcement, future Honda models will be designed with a fresh approach in mind, specifically pertaining to their cabin layouts.

Explained by Johnathan Norman, Creative Lead for Honda Interior Design in the U.S., the new viewpoint is called “simplicity and ‘something.’” Simplicity puts focus on the perspective of the passengers by maximizing visibility through the windows and windshield. “And something” adds a particular uniqueness for each model to boost positive emotional response.

Although this sounds like a change in course, it’s not really a new approach for Honda. For years, the automaker has followed a similar “Man Maximum/Machine Minimum” approach that prioritized passenger satisfaction. “Simplicity and ‘something’” is just a return to this tried-and-true, human-centered strategy.

So, if you’re a fan of traditional Honda models that prioritize user experience over complexity and practicality over extravagance, we think you’ll like the design of future models coming to Avery Greene Honda in Vallejo, California. In the coming years, you’re going to see “simplicity and ‘something’” employed on Honda model interiors of the 11th generation Civic Sedan and family SUVs when they’re revamped for their next generations.

Honda Sensing® Elite Introduces Automated Driving Capabilities

Honda Sensing® Elite | Avery Greene Honda | Vallejo, CA

Honda is taking a step into the future with its all-new Honda Sensing® Elite system. This system, which is now available in Japan on the Honda Legend EX, is an all-new suite of driver-assist and safety technologies that offers Level 3 automated driving capability as SAE International standards define it.

What does Level 3 automated driving mean, though? This type of automation is the first level that won’t require you to constantly monitor your surroundings while on the go. This means that this technology will let you sit back and relax on commutes through Vallejo or road trips through California once it makes the leap stateside.

That doesn’t mean you get to completely ignore the driving experience, though. Level 3 automation will still require you to be prepared to intervene at any given moment, specifically when the car encounters a situation that it can’t handle alone.

In Japan, this means that the Honda Sensing® Elite system will help the Legend EX take on the road ahead autonomously. It will steer, accelerate, and brake to pass slower cars on the highway and comes with a range of features, such as Traffic Jam Pilot, which helps you take on traffic, and Emergency Stop Assist feature that will pull the car over to the curb, stop it, and turn on the hazard lights if the driver is unresponsive.

While this technology isn’t available in the U.S. just yet, it could very well arrive soon as part of a new crop of tech-savvy Honda vehicles. Until then, come into Avery Greene Honda to check out what the current Honda Sensing® suite of technologies has to offer.
