2019 Honda Ridgeline Receives IIHS Top Safety Pick Rating

2019 Honda Ridgeline IIHS Top Safety Pick

The 2019 Honda Ridgeline is a pickup truck that manages to stand out from its segment, especially when it comes to safety. This truck was recently named an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick when it is equipped with optional front crash prevention and specific headlights, making it the only pickup truck to earn this rating from the IIHS.*

Along with this safety rating, the Ridgeline also earned the top “Superior” rating from the IIHS for its available Collision Mitigation Braking System™. This system applies the brakes when a potential collision is detected on the road ahead and is part of the larger Honda Sensing® suite of safety technologies.

The Honda Sensing® package comes standard on the Ridgeline RTL-E and Black Edition Models. It includes features like Road Departure Mitigation, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Adaptive Cruise Control.

The Ridgeline is the seventh Honda model to be recognized by the IIHS. Along with this pickup truck, the 2019 Accord, CR-V, HR-V, Pilot, and Odyssey all received the IIHS Top Safety Pick title. The Insight was awarded the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ title. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has also given all 2019 Honda models that have been tested so far, including the Ridgeline, its top five-star overall vehicle score.

Honda Pastport April Fool’s Day Joke Brings Back ’90s Nostalgia

Honda Pastport April Fool’s Day

On the first of every April, people across the country get up to some major hijinks, thanks to April Fool’s Day. This year, Honda was no exception. The Japanese carmaker got into the April Fool’s Day spirit this year by posting about the brand-new Pastport trim for the 2019 Passport — an entirely fictitious model, but one that we really, really wish were true.

The fictional Pastport trim is a ’90s-inspired version of the Passport, which features a throwback interior that highlights popular ’90s features, including automatic windows, a cassette player, and plush micro-fiber seats. It even has a mount for your beeper!

“From TV reboots to fashion, the ’90s are making a huge comeback, and we saw an opportunity at Honda for consumers who want uniqueness and simplicity, so we decided to reach back and bring the Pastport to market this spring,” said Zack Tanner, historical innovations manager for Honda. “We think the new Pastport is all that and a bag of chips.”

While this nostalgic trim level isn’t actually available, you can come in to Avery Greene Honda to check out the actual Passport. This ruggedly handsome SUV is the newest addition to Honda’s SUV lineup. It comes with an available all-wheel-drive system, standard safety technologies, ample power, and an abundance of interior space to make it a solid choice in its segment.

With crisp lines along the front end and muscular fenders, the new CR-V has a solid look. In the back, there is a new, distinctive LED taillight pattern.

A Look Under the Hood

HondaVAC Sweeps Away the Competition for the 2014 Odyssey

It’s one of those ideas that’s so brilliant and obvious that you are dumbfounded it’s taken someone this long to think of it—a built-in vacuum cleaner for a minivan. But Honda—thanks to inspiration from an engineer’s daughter—has finally done it: the HondaVAC comes standard on the Touring Elite model of the 2014 Honda Odyssey, and as Honda’s extensive marketing campaign is proving, they’re quite proud of it.

“Nobody else has a vacuum,” gloated Tom Peyton, Honda’s associate vice president of advertising. “Finding a point of differentiation [for minivans] can be tough, so shame on us if we don’t run with it.”

And run with it, they have. Honda has released several new commercials, using celebrity voice talents to tout the new vacuum. One commercial even features Neil Patrick Harris and Rainn Wilson, and Honda has hinted that more commercials are on their way.

Honda has also been aggressively hyping up the vacuum on Twitter: the automaker has been tweeting smack talk messages to other companies and products about how the HondaVAC will “wipe the floor” with them, if you will. This article compiles most of Honda’s Twitter trash talk.

Overall, it’s a funny, effective marketing scheme that—dare we say it—actually gives the minivan, or at least the 2014 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite, some major cool points. Come by Avery Greene Honda in Vallejo and drive the Odyssey for yourself today!
