2016 Honda Accord Arrives in Australia

The 2016 Honda Accord is a top competitor among the midsize sedan segment—and for good reason. Boasting the interior of a luxury car, there aren’t many competitors that can compare. The latest Accord arrived in Australia not long ago with new equipment, styling, and pricing.

Boasting a chromed-out front end, the 2016 Honda Accord keeps up with the latest Honda Civic’s appearance with ease. Riding on a new wheel design, a little goes a long way in this popular car.

In terms of equipment, Honda added the LaneWatch Camera system to the base Accord. That safety technology displays what the driver might not be able to see on the touchscreen. The higher trims come equipped with the Honda Sensing safety suite which includes road departure mitigation and a lane keep assist system, among others.

The Accord VTi comes fully loaded for a little over $23,700 in United States currency. In Australian currency, that same model will run drivers $32,990. The top-end model, the 2016 Honda Accord V6L, costs nearly $37,800 in United States dollars while the same model breaks $52,500 in Australian dollars.

We here at Avery Greene Honda are glad to see more regions getting behind the wheel of the latest Honda Accord!

Say Goodbye to the Crosstour, Hello to the HR-V Replacing the Crosstour

Last call: this is your last chance to purchase a new Honda Crosstour as production of the model will cease after the 2015 model year. As we say goodbye to the Crosstour, we look forward to saying hello to the all-new Honda HR-V.

Built at the Marysville Auto Plant in Ohio, discontinuing production of the Crosstour enables the plant to take on production of more of Honda’s popular models, like the Accord and CR-V as well as other vehicles from its sister company, Acura.

Said executive vice president of American Honda Motor Company, John Mendel, “The Crosstour, introduced in 2010, served a positive role in helping the Honda brand target crossover buyers. However, the crossover segment has evolved and we believe the all-new 2016 Honda HR-V launching later this spring will create new value for crossover shoppers…”

The HR-V, is the ultimate crossover, featuring the exterior styling of a coupe and the interior space of an SUV. The vehicle joins the Honda lineup as the smallest crossover designed to zip around city streets.

For more information on either the 2015 Crosstour or the 2016 HR-V replacing the Crosstour, don’t hesitate to contact us here at Avery Greene Honda. But don’t wait too long; the clock is ticking down for the Crosstour.

The “Futuristic and Unique” Ride of the 2015 Honda Accord Hybrid

2015 Honda Accord Hybrid

Honda has a long history of creating some of the most reliable and durable cars on the road.  The automaker is also known the world over for building vehicles with superior fuel efficiency. But we can’t forget that when it comes to hybrid technology and implementation, Honda is simply cutting-edge. Torque News took a 2015 Honda Accord Hybrid for a spin and found that it was “futuristic and unique.” Here’s why…

  • The brakes on the Accord Hybrid are electric mechanical regenerating disks.
  • Below highway speeds, the Accord is the only hybrid that keeps the gasoline engine disengaged from the drive wheels.
  • The 2015 Honda Accord Hybrid offers 47 mpg combined.
  • The base trim Accord Hybrid comes with backup camera, voice command, and right lane watch in addition to an awesome 8-speaker sound system.
  • The Accord Hybrid is equipped with Honda’s 2.0-liter EarthDreams hybrid engine, which uses “10% less fuel than competition’s comparably sized engine.”

Torque News claims that “the ride comfort, handling and interior noise level is superior to any other car in Honda’s lineup.” When the tester was asked what he would change about the 2015 Honda Accord Hybrid, he said, “Nothing, really!”

Honda Vehicles Included in IIHS’ Best Used Cars for Teens List

Safety has always been a priority for Honda cars and it shows, even in the brand’s used cars. Several model years of Honda pre-owned vehicles were named as part of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s first-ever list of the best used cars for teens, showcasing just how serious the Japanese carmaker is when it comes to safety.

“Enhancing the safety of our customers and the quality of our products is a top priority for Honda,” said Art. St. Cyr, vice president of product planning and logistics at American Honda. “Our long-term commitment to enhancing safety and durability makes Honda an ideal choice when shopping for safe, reliable transportation, new or pre-owned, for all drivers including teens.”

2014 Honda CR-V

Honda Sales up 1.1 Percent in April

Despite a weak overall sales month for the entire automobile industry, Honda and Acura are happy to announce a 1.1 percent increase in sales when compared to April 2013.

2014 Honda CR-V

The Honda CR-V set a Honda sales record in month of April.

Most notable for the month of April were sales for the Honda CR-V, which were up 7.4 percent and set a new April sales record for the crossover SUV. The ever-popular Civic and Accord also demonstrated strong gains for the month, increasing by 4.4 percent and 1.7 percent, respectively.

Honda’s management generously puts the weight of these Honda sales increases on dedicated Honda buyers and dealerships.

“More than any other automaker our success is based on one customer at a time going down to their Honda dealer to purchase a new vehicle, and in April, we see the power of our retail sales strategy at work,” said Jeff Conrad, a spokesperson for Honda.

Honda – The Most Stolen (And Recovered) Cars On the Road

You may recognize Honda as one of the most popular companies for car buyers in the United States. It may surprise you, however, to find out that Hondas are well-liked among another group of people: in a recent report from LoJack Corporation, the Honda Accord and Civic were named the top two most stolen and recovered cars in 2012.

What makes these two models such hot items for thieves?  Before Honda owners start to worry, one of the primary reasons is that, as two of the most popular vehicles available in the United States, there are more Civics and Accords on the road than other models.  This means there are Hondas available for a thief to steal, and the cars’ popularity allows thieves to blend into traffic. The popularity of the two models also creates a higher demand for their parts on the black market.

The good news is that the majority of these thefts are preventable. The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System is available for both the Civic and Accord and maintained a 94% recovery success rate in 2012.

Avery Greene Honda offers LoJack Recovery Services for vehicles to ensure you don’t fall prey to car theft. To learn more about two of the most popular cars on the road, stop by our dealership to test drive the 2013 Accord or 2013 Civic today.

Civic Receives Top Safety Rating

Following a series of tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the 2013 Honda Civic Sedan and Coupe have both been selected for TOP SAFETY PICK+ ratings, the highest rating possible in the study.

Industry-wide, the Civic is the only small car to earn the TOP SAFETY PICK + rating. The Civic joins the Honda Accord Sedan and Coupe in its top safety rating, while all Honda cars tested in the study received at least a TOP SAFETY PICK designation from the IIHS, demonstrating the manufacturer’s dedication to safety on the road.

The 2013 Civic comes standard with a variety of security features that led to its top rating, including the ACE II body design that allows the car to perform better in multiple crash situations. Other standard Civic safety technologies include Vehicle Stability Assist, front and side airbags and anti-lock brakes.

“If you want a compact car with a TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating, the 2013 Honda Civic is the only choice,” said Art St. Cyr, a Honda spokesperson.

For more information on IIHS ratings, visit the official IIHS website.

Green Car Journal Names Honda ECO Assist a Top Green Technology

Honda’s ECO Assist fuel-conserving technology was recently selected by Green Car Journal as one of the top 10 green car technologies for 2013, making it a finalist for the journal’s Green Car Technology Award.

The innovative ECO Assist technology features a speedometer backlight that monitors driving performance and helps drivers learn the best driving techniques to conserve fuel. The meter responds to driving based on fuel efficiency, with different colors representing different levels of fuel efficient driving. Smooth driving and braking will produce a green-colored meter, while more forceful accelerating and stopping generates a blue warning light.

On top of ECO Assist, Honda drivers also have the option to use an ECON button located on dashboards that optimizes systems based on driving situations to further save fuel.

Hybrid Honda models feature a display with more in-depth fuel-conservation information. These models provide long-term driving information for drivers, including statistics from past trips and average fuel economy numbers.

2013 marks the first year of Green Car Journal’s Green Car Technology Award. The award acknowledges innovations in fuel-efficiency, emission control and other environmental concerns for automobiles currently in production.

To find out more about ECO Assist technology and other Honda features, visit Honda’s website.

ECO-Assist is available on several new Honda models available at Avery Greene Honda, including the 2013 Civic, Insight, CR-V and Accord. For a full list of Avery Greene models, check out our New Cars page!
