2021 Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition Sells Out in Four Minutes

2020 Honda Civic Type R

There’s no denying that the 2021 Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition is in high demand. This special-edition Civic recently went on sale on the Honda Canada website — and every one of the 100 units that are available in that region was sold in just four minutes.

This is the same thing that occurred in the United Kingdom, which only had 20 units available.

Honda is only selling 1,000 units of the Civic Type R Limited Edition with 600 of them going to the United States market. Each one of these special-edition Civic’s is painted in Phoenix Yellow, and you must reserve one with a $1,000 deposit — though we don’t know how much the vehicle will cost in the US.

In the UK, the Civic was listed as £39,995, which amounts to about $46,600. The US-spec vehicle will have some different features than the European option, including an air-conditioning system.

Other features that the Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition will offer include a weight reduction, 20-inch BB alloy wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 semi-slick tires, an Alcantara steering wheel, and a new counter-weighted teardrop gear knob. Overall, it’s expected that the Limited Edition model will cost about $10,000 more than the regular Civic Type R.

Honda Face Shield Donation Gives 130,000 to Medical Staff

Face Shield For Medical Staff

As COVID-19 continues to spread around the world, Honda is taking a step towards helping support the healthcare workers who are on the front line. The Japanese carmaker recently made a donation of face shields to medical staff around the United States.

The Honda face shield donation will provide more than 130,000 shields to those that need it. The face shields were manufactured at Honda Engineering North America in Marysville, Ohio. This manufacturing plant used its existing plastic injection molding equipment to create the clear plastic face shields that are a vital part in protecting healthcare workers from the virus.

Honda of Canada Manufacturing is also helping produce these face shields, providing the frame needed to keep the shields on. The two companies have already created 70,000 face shields to 305 medical facilities in 45 states, and plan on making at least 60,000 more.

“It was a comprehensive effort with our Honda design and manufacturing teams working together to quickly solve this challenge,” said Eric Walli, regional planning leader of Honda North America. “We were looking at materials, doing scientific work to understand if what we put in a face shield would be safe for humans to wear, an all of this was occurring as we sought to rapidly begin and then ramp up production.”

Along with these face shields, Honda has also contributed in other ways. For instance, it turned multiple Odyssey minivans into coronavirus testing transport vans in Detroit.
