When you think of American vehicles, you might not think of the Honda brand — but you should. That’s because 4 of the top 10 American-made cars in the U.S. are Honda models.
According to Cars.com’s American-Made Index, Honda has more vehicles built in America than any other brand. The Ridgeline, Odyssey, Passport, and Pilot are all manufactured in Lincoln, Alabama. The Honda Accord also made it into the top 20, as it’s built in Marysville, Ohio.
What does it mean to be American-made? It’s more than just where the pieces of the car are assembled; it’s about where those components themselves are sourced and who does the work.
Of the 90 vehicles assessed and ranked by Cars.com, Honda placed in the top 10 multiple times. Evaluators scored each one on five primary categories: assembly location, parts content, engine origins, transmission origins, and U.S. manufacturing workforce.
You can’t judge if a car is domestic or not based on the origin of its badge. You have to consider the U.S. jobs that the automaker produces and where the work is performed for the company.
So if you’re looking for a true American truck or SUV here in Vallejo, California, you can find it at Avery Greene Honda. We have the Ridgeline, Odyssey, Passport, and Pilot in stock, whether you want to buy them new or used.
