Tips for A Safe and Healthy Thanksgiving in 2020

Tips for a Safe Thanksgiving | Avery Greene Honda | Vallejo, CA

Thanksgiving is a time for togetherness and being thankful, but this year it might look a bit different. Because safety guidelines throughout California are constantly changing to keep everyone safe, it’s important to consider making a new tradition this year for a safe and healthy Thanksgiving 2020.

Think small. Rather than having a big feast filled with family and friends, it might be a good idea to have a small dinner with only the people who live in your household. If you truly want to have a big celebration, you can always bring everyone together virtually, sharing recipes that other usually make and eating while chatting online.

Take precautions. If the guidelines in Vallejo allow you to have people over, you should take extra precautions to ensure you all stay healthy. Consider eating outdoors and wear a mask if there are multiple people around. Also, you should wash your hands throughout the cooking process — more than you usually do — to help prevent the spread.

Understand your space. Measure the available space you have and only invite the number of people that will fit into the space while social distancing.

Avoid high-risk activities. According to the CDC, there are many high-risk activities that are common during the Thanksgiving season that should be avoided. This includes going out into crowded stores for Black Friday shopping, attending crowded parades, or taking part in a crowded race.

From everyone here at Avery Greene Honda in Vallejo, we wish you a happy, healthy, and safe Thanksgiving 2020.

Tips for Celebrating Halloween at Home in Vallejo, California

Tips for Celebrating Halloween at Home | Avery Greene Honda | Vallejo, CA

Trick-or-treating for Halloween this year seems more and more unlikely, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still celebrate in a family-friendly way. If you’re trying to think of how you can get down and spooky — or maybe start a new family tradition — then consider these tips for celebrating Halloween at home this year.

Build a haunted fort. There are few things more fun than building a fort, so why not build one with a Halloween twist? Get dressed up in your costumes, add spooky elements like fake cobwebs, skeletons, and LED candles, and gather under your haunted fort. You can watch a Halloween movie, play board games, or enjoy some sweet treats for some family bonding.

Have a craft party. If you take even a second to browse through Pinterest, you will find any number of crafts for your kids to enjoy this Halloween, no matter their ages. Have some spooky fun with crafts, creating monster puppets, carving pumpkins, and more.

Enjoy a Halloween scavenger hunt. Whether you’re trying to stay in your house or want something fun to do outside — while still socially distancing — a scavenger hunt is a great way to bring joy on the night the kids are meant to be trick-or-treating. Have them find seasonal items, like pumpkins, black cats, and more. You can find any number of already made scavenger hunts online.

3 Valentine’s Day Gifts for Car Lovers

Romantic Valentine's Day Car Gifts | Vallejo, CA

February 14th is coming up quickly, which means it’s time to start thinking about what you’re going to get the Valentine in your life. If your significant other happens to love cars, you can always tailor your gift to this passion. To help you out, we’ve put together some ideas for Valentine’s Day gifts for car lovers.

Get their car detailed. There are few things better than having a car that’s spic and span. If your loved one is the type to really focus on taking care of their vehicle, then why not treat them to a detailing? An auto detailer will do a deep clean, leaving your significant other’s car sparkling like new.

Make it easier to head out in the morning. Morning drives aren’t fun, especially with how hot it can get in Vallejo sometimes. Make your loved one’s car that much better by getting them a remote starter. This will allow their car to get to a comfortable temperature without them having to sit in it, waiting for it to cool off.

Think of the right tools. From changing oil to changing out wheels, your partner likely needs new tools to make taking care of their car easier. Consider getting them new tools to help with any job. This gift can be tailored to their specific needs, whether they need a new wrench or a tool organizer to keep the garage tidy.

If you truly want to give your Valentine a gift they’ll remember, though, how about a new car or car accessory from Avery Greene Honda?

The Best Christmas Lights in Vallejo to Check Out in Your Honda

Holiday LightsWhile Vallejo may not turn into the sort of white winter wonderland you hear about in holiday songs, that doesn’t mean we don’t know how to put our abundant Christmas spirit on display for all to see. Vallejo is one of the best places in California for cruising around and checking out holiday decorations. Load your family, friends, or just yourself into your trusty Honda vehicle and check out these spectacular Christmas lights in Vallejo:

The Christmas House

The name says it all. This one-of-a-kind holiday home down on Old Glen Cove Road is a must-see. Every year is something new, so even if you’ve witnessed Bob’s Christmas House before, be sure to pay it another visit this season! Sometimes, a “special someone” is even there. (Hint: He wears a big red suit and an unforgettable laugh.)

Old Glen Cove Road

Up and down this historic street, you’ll find awe-inspiring and imaginative Christmas décor — some of the very best Christmas lights in Vallejo! Easy Christmas Cookies to Bring to That Party This Year

Christmas CookiesDeciding what to bring to that special holiday party — whether it’s your work Christmas bonanza or a little get-together at your in-laws’ — can be a challenge. You want to impress the other guests with your creative and scrumptious dish, but do you really want to put in all that effort? The staff at Avery Greene Honda has the solution: this quick list of tasty, easy-to-bake Christmas cookies.

Chocolate Peppermint Crackle Cookies

These are perfectly holiday-theme, and they both look and taste way more complex than they actually are to make. The only extra step you need to consider is chilling the dough overnight; other than that, these cookies will be done in 15 minutes flat!

Snow Flurries

All you need to make these adorable and delicious cookies is sugar cookie dough, a star-shaped cookie cutter, and your favorite berry jam. Bake the sugar cookies in star shapes and, when they’re done and cooled, put a dollop of berry jam on top of half the batch. Then, place another cookie on top, with the points of the top star in between the points of the bottom. They become the perfect little snowflakes!

Buckeyes

Whether these are a candy or a cookie is still up for debate, but what can’t be denied is that these peanut-butter-and-chocolate treats are absolutely addictive. Just whip some store-bought peanut butter together with powdered sugar, melted butter, and a dash of vanilla, then freeze. While it’s freezing, melt some chocolate chips in a pot on the oven. Roll the peanut butter into balls, dip them into the melted chocolate with a toothpick, and you have yourself a buckeye!

From our family at Avery Greene Honda to you and yours: Have a most Merry Christmas and the happiest of holidays.
