There’s nothing that says it’s the holidays quite like a live tree strung with bright lights and with presents nestled underneath it. If you’re planning on heading out to a tree farm in Vallejo this year, though, it’s important that you know how to transport a Christmas tree home safely. These are the tips you should keep in mind when you pick up your tree.
Have the right vehicle. Before you get your tree, make sure you have the right vehicle. A truck like the Toyota Tacoma or a SUV like the Toyota Highlander are solid options, though any vehicle that has a roof rack is good.
Bring the correct tools with you. You will need the right tools to keep the tree on the roof, since it needs to be extremely secure — especially if you’re traveling at high speeds on a California highway. The right supplies include nylon ratchet straps and a blanket to put under the tree so you can protect your vehicle’s paint job. You should also make sure that your tree is bagged or netted before you load it up on the roof.
Position it properly. When you place the tree on the top of your roof, make sure that the tree’s trunk is facing the front of your vehicle. This makes it more aerodynamic and less likely to fly off the vehicle. You should anchor it to the car right above the bottom branches and towards the top of the tree, too.
Once you know how to transport a Christmas tree, you’ll be able to make spirits bright every season going forward. The team at Avery Greene Honda hopes to make your spirits bright, too, the next time you visit us for service or when you’re shopping for a new vehicle.
