“Enhancing the safety of our customers and the quality of our products is a top priority for Honda,” said Art. St. Cyr, vice president of product planning and logistics at American Honda. “Our long-term commitment to enhancing safety and durability makes Honda an ideal choice when shopping for safe, reliable transportation, new or pre-owned, for all drivers including teens.”

2014 Honda Accord Hybrid

Two Honda Vehicles Awarded Place on 10 Best Green Cars List

Throughout the car industry, more and more carmakers are rushing to become the leader in the eco-friendly, green car segment. Honda appears to be two steps ahead of the competition, though, after KBB.com announced that both the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid and the 2014 Honda Civic Natural Gas are on their list of the 10 Best Green Cars of 2014.

2014 Honda Accord Hybrid

The 2014 Accord Hybrid and Civic Natural Gas were named top green cars!y

“For customers looking to purchase vehicles that have low CO2 emissions, Honda has two great options on KBB.com’s list—the fun-to-drive, fuel efficient Accord Hybrid and the Civic Natural Gas powered without a drop of gasoline,” said Steven Center, vice president of the Environmental Business Development Office at American Honda Co., Inc. “This recognition from Kelley Blue Book validates the efforts of Honda engineers who for decades have continued to work towards out goal to leave ‘Blue Skies for our Children.’”

These awards come as no surprise for those critics and consumers who have driven these two cars. The Accord Hybrid is known for its excellent performance skills and an EPA-estimated 50 mpg city fuel economy, while the Civic Natural Gas makes a lasting impression with its use of clean-burning fuel, saving consumers up to 40% in estimated fuel costs compared to a gasoline-powered car.

New Honda NM4 Motorcycle Inspiration from Hollywood

Admit it: last time you watched any of the Chris Nolan Batman trilogy, you found yourself thinking, “Man I want to drive that thing,” whenever Batman got behind the wheel of one of his various Batmobiles. If you’re like us here at Avery Greene Honda, though, you might be especially interested in the motorcycles, like the one that Catwoman drives around toward the end of The Dark Knight Rises. You’re in luck: here comes Honda with the new NM4 motorcycle.

While the NM4 actually takes a lot of its design inspiration from the Akira universe—something that will be familiar to any fans of Japanese manga or anime out there—with its gracefully bulky, black sculpture, the NM4 would look totally at home in a Nolan movie. The NM4’s keywords during design included “COOL” and “the Neo-futuristic,” and the finished exhibition model certainly delivers.

The new bike debuted at the 2014 Osaka Motorcycle Show; actually, Honda brought two different exhibition models along, an all-black one as well as one with white accents. We’re still waiting for word on when exactly this innovative new bike will hit the market, so make sure to check back with us often on the blog for updates. For now, simply enjoy these great photos of the brand new NM4!

The spacious sedan will be available in three trims (Base, EX-L and Touring) when it debuts across the United States on October 31st, offering much room for customization for drivers.

“With advanced technologies standard on every Accord Hybrid we’ve given customers an incredible combination of fuel efficiency, technology and value,” said John Mendel, an American Honda spokesperson. “The addition of the Accord Hybrid to the lineup will further advance Accord’s position as America’s most popular passenger car with individual buyers.”

Furthermore, the Accord Hybrid will be produced at Honda’s Marysville, OH production plant, so you can rest assured that American jobs went into the car’s creation.

Honda – The Most Stolen (And Recovered) Cars On the Road

You may recognize Honda as one of the most popular companies for car buyers in the United States. It may surprise you, however, to find out that Hondas are well-liked among another group of people: in a recent report from LoJack Corporation, the Honda Accord and Civic were named the top two most stolen and recovered cars in 2012.

What makes these two models such hot items for thieves?  Before Honda owners start to worry, one of the primary reasons is that, as two of the most popular vehicles available in the United States, there are more Civics and Accords on the road than other models.  This means there are Hondas available for a thief to steal, and the cars’ popularity allows thieves to blend into traffic. The popularity of the two models also creates a higher demand for their parts on the black market.

The good news is that the majority of these thefts are preventable. The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System is available for both the Civic and Accord and maintained a 94% recovery success rate in 2012.

Avery Greene Honda offers LoJack Recovery Services for vehicles to ensure you don’t fall prey to car theft. To learn more about two of the most popular cars on the road, stop by our dealership to test drive the 2013 Accord or 2013 Civic today.

Honda Takes In-Car Technology to New Heights

If you think the in-car technology available today is advanced, just wait until you see what the future has in store.  At this year’s Nvidia GPU Technology Conference (GTC), a number of automotive groups, including Honda, displayed new and exciting driver gadgets that make today’s technology look like something from the Flintstones.

Honda’s focus during the seminars was on the development of a more advanced heads-up display system with additional features. Honda demonstrated three new technologies currently in development that are focused on improving a driver’s situational awareness, responsiveness and safety.

The first system featured was a new heads-up display system.  The system not only projects a driver’s current speed and turn-by-turn directions, but it also displays street names on the windshield of the car, improving the driver’s visibility of the projections and the road.

The second item was a nine-square grid screen near the top of the windshield.  Your car will appear as the center square, glowing green.  When a car moves into one of the eight other spots around your car, the corresponding square turns red to indicate the close proximity. This is a more advanced version of blind spot detection or cross traffic alert.

The third technology demonstrated was a projected path system.  The system examines roads ahead of the car for traffic and potential danger. When turning left, for example, if traffic were oncoming, a red path would be displayed.  This technology is more accurate than the human eye, because it can determine when the path is safest by calculating the speed and distance of the oncoming traffic.

These new technologies may sound like they came straight from a sci-fi movie or cartoon, but they could be showing up in our cars in just a few years.
