2016 Hondas Named to IIHS Top Safety Pick+ List

Early this month, the 2016 Honda Civic joined three of its fellow models on the 2016 IIHS Top Safety Pick+ list. The new Accord Sedan and Coupe, the CR-V, and the Pilot were also named to this list. The Top Safety Pick+ rating is given to vehicles that earn an “Advanced” or “Superior” score on their front crash test.

The Civic Sedan, also deemed the 2016 North American Car of the Year, offers a wide range of safety features in addition to receiving excellent crash test ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The Civic includes the Honda Sensing technology suite, which raises the bar for the compact car class. This suite includes driver assist technologies like a Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and several others.

Civic Sedans also come with Stability Assist with Traction Control, a rearview camera, and its Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure, which gives it unbeatable strength in crash situations. No wonder the Civic is considered one of the safest cars on the road!

Honda Civic Wins Overall KBB Best Buy Award

The all-new Honda Civic recently received top honors from Kelley Blue Book (KBB). The KBB Best Buy Awards are given to vehicles that exceed in performance, efficiency, styling, technology, affordability, and more. It’s no wonder the Civic took home the gold.

According to Honda, the 2016 Civic topped the Overall Winner category; however, there were also some winners in other categories. The Civic also won the Small Car category, the CR-V won the Small SUV category, the Pilot took the Mid-Size award, and the Odyssey dominated the Minivan category.

Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of the Honda Division, stated, “This prestigious award from KBB.com helps current and future buyers with their purchase decisions and further solidifies the notion that for customers who purchase a Honda, be it a car or a light truck, they are making an ‘overall’ smart choice.”

The KBB Best Buy Award was specifically given to the new Civic because it is a market-leader in every segment. It is new and updated, with a fresh exterior and interior, the best in safety, tons of features, and fantastic performance. What’s not to like about the new Civic?

2016 Honda Civic Design Revealed

2015 Honda Civic

Current Honda Civic Available at Avery Greene Honda

The best-selling Honda Civic is going into its 10th generation with style. The Civic has become a well-known nameplate, as well as the basis and inspiration for many compact car designs on the market. However, the 2016 Honda Civic design was revealed at a Los Angeles event recently, and for the next generation Honda seems to be taking the car in a sportier, more youthful direction.

The compact car will come in a base model as well as five-door hatchback and coupe styles. Two higher trims will be offered: Civic Si and Civic Type-R. The 2016 Civic design has kept some of the style from the Civic concept unveiled at the 2015 New York Auto Show and its cabin—which is positioned further back on the body of the car, along with the sculpted wheel arches—grants the Civic a less traditional, more dramatic and muscular appearance.

The 2016 Civic will also come with a more powerful engine ever seen in a Civic, according to Honda. The base model comes with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with i-VTEC variable valve timing, while there is also an available 1.5-liter turbo engine–the first turbocharged engine to be offered with a base Civic. In terms of tech features, the 2016 Civic will also feature a 7-inch touchscreen display that is compatible with both Android Audio and Apple CarPlay.

The 2016 Honda Civic design has been revamped to lure in new, younger buyers, and with its new looks, standard features, and available options, it may do just that. The Civic is slated to appear on dealer lots sometime this fall, with pricing to be announced closer to the release date.

The 2015 Honda Civic lineup is growing, offering more options than ever before—and it looks like they’re only going to get greener. Joining the already-released Civic Sedan, Civic Coupe, and Civic Si are the 2015 Civic Hybrid and Civic Natural Gas. These two Honda alternative fuel Civics provide consumers with fuel-efficient choices when considering the Civic model, all for a low price.

The Civic Hybrid boasts an impressive EPA-rated fuel rating of 45 miles per gallon combined, while the Civic Natural Gas boasts a 31 mpg combined fuel rating. Because of their impressive fuel economy, the American Council for Energy-Efficient Economy recognized these two vehicles as part of the top ten Greenest Vehicles of 2014. But these Civic models aren’t just fuel-efficient—they offer plenty of sophisticated features, too.

These features include a 7-inch touchscreen Display Audio, which helps view and control a variety of systems including audio, phonebook, media, and vehicle information. It’s also the platform for HondaLink. A rearview camera comes standard on all Civics, while a Smart Entry with Push Button Start helps the Civic Hybrid start with ease.

With all these features and terrific fuel economy, there’s no denying that the Honda alternative fuel Civics are a great way to save on fuel costs. Stop in to Avery Greene Honda to see what these models have to offer.

Honda CR-V SUV

Honda Accord and CR-V Are America’s Most Popular Car and SUV

As kids, we’re taught to do the right thing, even if it isn’t popular. Occasionally, however, the right thing and the popular thing are one and the same. Such is the case for the Honda Accord and CRV, which are America’s most popular mid-size car and SUV, respectively, for the first half of 2014.

2014 Honda Accord

The Accord is America’s most popular car for the first half of 2014!

According to data supplied by IHS Automotive, the retail sales of both the Honda Accord and CR-V have surpassed segment competitors’ sales during the first half of 2014.

If this trend continues, the Accord is on its way to once again be the best-selling mid-size car on the retail market, and the CR-V will continue its decade-long streak as America’s best-selling SUV.

“More individual customers put a new Honda Accord in their driveway in the first

Honda CR-V SUV

The Honda CR-V has been the best-selling SUV in America for a decade.

half of this year than any other new car in America, and SUV buyers continue to choose CR-V more than any other SUV in America,” said Jeff Conrad, Honda Division senior VP and general manager. “While competitors rely on deep-discounts and sales to corporate and rental fleets, Honda continues to achieve steady and sustainable growth based on the quality and value of our products in the hands of individual customers.”

The Honda Civic and Odyssey also led their segments in most retail sales from January to June of 2014.

When it comes down to it, Honda vehicles have repeatedly earned the title as “Most Popular in America” because they continue to prove themselves to be the right car for so many customers. 2014 Honda CR-V

Honda Sales up 1.1 Percent in April

Despite a weak overall sales month for the entire automobile industry, Honda and Acura are happy to announce a 1.1 percent increase in sales when compared to April 2013.

2014 Honda CR-V

The Honda CR-V set a Honda sales record in month of April.

Most notable for the month of April were sales for the Honda CR-V, which were up 7.4 percent and set a new April sales record for the crossover SUV. The ever-popular Civic and Accord also demonstrated strong gains for the month, increasing by 4.4 percent and 1.7 percent, respectively.

Honda’s management generously puts the weight of these Honda sales increases on dedicated Honda buyers and dealerships.

“More than any other automaker our success is based on one customer at a time going down to their Honda dealer to purchase a new vehicle, and in April, we see the power of our retail sales strategy at work,” said Jeff Conrad, a spokesperson for Honda.

Trusted vehicle review website Edmunds.com recently named several 2013 Honda cars the best in their segments for retaining value, demonstrating the automakers dedication to safe, reliable cars.

The 2013 Honda Civic was the winningest Honda car on the 2013 Best Retained Value Awards List, topping both the “Sedan $20K – $30K” and “Coupe Under $25,000” categories. The Honda Odyssey was also projected to retain the most value in the van segment of the study, and a number of other Honda vehicles, including the CR-V and Fit, were named as honorable mentions in their respective categories.

“Honda models definitely punch above their weight when it comes to value with class-leading quality, safety ratings, standard features and a company commitment to avoid value-sapping fleet sales” said Mike Accavitti, a Honda spokesperson.

Honda – The Most Stolen (And Recovered) Cars On the Road

You may recognize Honda as one of the most popular companies for car buyers in the United States. It may surprise you, however, to find out that Hondas are well-liked among another group of people: in a recent report from LoJack Corporation, the Honda Accord and Civic were named the top two most stolen and recovered cars in 2012.

What makes these two models such hot items for thieves?  Before Honda owners start to worry, one of the primary reasons is that, as two of the most popular vehicles available in the United States, there are more Civics and Accords on the road than other models.  This means there are Hondas available for a thief to steal, and the cars’ popularity allows thieves to blend into traffic. The popularity of the two models also creates a higher demand for their parts on the black market.

The good news is that the majority of these thefts are preventable. The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System is available for both the Civic and Accord and maintained a 94% recovery success rate in 2012.

Civic Receives Top Safety Rating

Following a series of tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the 2013 Honda Civic Sedan and Coupe have both been selected for TOP SAFETY PICK+ ratings, the highest rating possible in the study.

Industry-wide, the Civic is the only small car to earn the TOP SAFETY PICK + rating. The Civic joins the Honda Accord Sedan and Coupe in its top safety rating, while all Honda cars tested in the study received at least a TOP SAFETY PICK designation from the IIHS, demonstrating the manufacturer’s dedication to safety on the road.

The 2013 Civic comes standard with a variety of security features that led to its top rating, including the ACE II body design that allows the car to perform better in multiple crash situations. Other standard Civic safety technologies include Vehicle Stability Assist, front and side airbags and anti-lock brakes.

“If you want a compact car with a TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating, the 2013 Honda Civic is the only choice,” said Art St. Cyr, a Honda spokesperson.

For more information on IIHS ratings, visit the official IIHS website.
