Honda’s Clarity Line to Expand

Honda FCEV Concept

Honda introduced the Clarity FCV fuel-cell vehicle at the 2016 New York Auto Show and now the automaker is ready to expand. The Japanese manufacturer plans to add three new models to the Clarity line over the next three years. A midsize car, the Honda Clarity is designed to compete with the Toyota Mirai fuel-cell vehicle.

The first of the three models added to the Honda Clarity’s line is the Clarity FCV fuel-cell vehicle itself. That model is already on sale in Japan and will initially be available in California later this year.

Following that, Honda also plans to add a Clarity Electric and Clarity Plug-In in 2017 and 2018 respectively. All three models will ride on the same platform and offer seating for up to five passengers.

The Clarity FCV has been undergoing testing for a few years with 40 units leased to customers in California. Honda expects the driving range to reach upwards of 300 miles. Meanwhile, the Clarity Plug-In will be able to hit 40 miles on a single charge.

“The Clarity series will occupy a unique position in the market, providing customers with a well-equipped, premium, midsize vehicle with a range of ultra-low-carbon powertrain options to suit their lifestyle needs,” said John Mendel, Honda of America Executive Vice President.

The addition of more fuel efficient models is part of Honda’s goal for two-thirds of the vehicles it sells to be eco-friendly.

We at Avery Green Honda can’t wait to see the newly expanded Honda Clarity line.

Next-Generation Honda Amaze Expected By End of 2018

HondaWord on the street says that we’re in for a next-generation Honda Amaze, and it may be on its way by 2018. The compact sedan is a big hit in its market in India. Rumors regarding a new generation come on the heels of the Indian government tightening restrictions on vehicle safety, with officials at Honda going into the preparations for the new Amaze with a focus on safety in order to comply with the upcoming restrictions.

The new Amaze will reportedly undergo a number of cosmetic changes in addition to the installation of cutting-edge safety technology. These changes include an updated, entirely redesigned exterior with a more modern and stylish appearance, plus an interior made from improved materials offering more space, a new dual-themed dashboard, and automatic climate control.

The safety restrictions themselves are very heavily geared toward protecting the driver and passengers in the event of a collision, particularly a frontal collision. Honda leaped at the opportunity, announcing that all vehicles in its lineup will have standard dual front airbags starting April 2017. Additionally, all vehicles in its lineup sold in India run on the Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure, which maintains rigidity and structural integrity during a crash.

The next-generation Honda Amaze will be engineering and constructed in Japan, at Honda’s Greater Noida and Tapukara plants. Production is slated to begin June 2018, with vehicle launch likely happening sometime that year. While the Amaze likely won’t be coming to US shores, the innovation of new safety technology and platforms in order to keep up with tightening government restrictions bodes well for Honda’s global market, as its worldwide lineup eventually adopts the newest tech.

New Honda Sport Hybrid i-MMD Powertrain Gives Two Motors to Hybrids

Honda recently announced yet another game-changing technology upgrade: adding a two-motor hybrid system–being called the Sport Hybrid i-MMD powertrain–to its larger vehicles, starting with the Odyssey minivan found on Japanese market

This will not only increase the power of the already large vehicles, but also the two-motor hybrid system will seriously improve vehicles’ fuel economy, which is typically a weak point for large models on the automotive market.

The brilliant engineers at Honda were able to make the two-motor hybrid system work for the Odyssey by cutting down on the size and weight of some of the heftier components, such as the battery.

It’s unclear when the Honda Sport Hybrid i-MMD powertrain will find its way into American vehicles, but it’s safe to assume that it’s on its way, particularly for Honda minivans and other vehicles similar in size.

2016 Honda Civic Design Revealed

2015 Honda Civic

The best-selling Honda Civic is going into its 10th generation with style. The Civic has become a well-known nameplate, as well as the basis and inspiration for many compact car designs on the market. However, the 2016 Honda Civic design was revealed at a Los Angeles event recently, and for the next generation Honda seems to be taking the car in a sportier, more youthful direction.

The compact car will come in a base model as well as five-door hatchback and coupe styles. Two higher trims will be offered: Civic Si and Civic Type-R. The 2016 Civic design has kept some of the style from the Civic concept unveiled at the 2015 New York Auto Show and its cabin—which is positioned further back on the body of the car, along with the sculpted wheel arches—grants the Civic a less traditional, more dramatic and muscular appearance.

The 2016 Civic will also come with a more powerful engine ever seen in a Civic, according to Honda. The base model comes with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with i-VTEC variable valve timing, while there is also an available 1.5-liter turbo engine–the first turbocharged engine to be offered with a base Civic. In terms of tech features, the 2016 Civic will also feature a 7-inch touchscreen display that is compatible with both Android Audio and Apple CarPlay.

The 2016 Honda Civic design has been revamped to lure in new, younger buyers, and with its new looks, standard features, and available options, it may do just that. The Civic is slated to appear on dealer lots sometime this fall, with pricing to be announced closer to the release date.

The All-New Honda Fit Remains a Winner for 2015 Model Year

2015 Honda Fit

2015 Honda Fit Available at Avery Greene Honda

Honda has introduced the third generation of the popular Fit model to the world, and it remains the best, most fun subcompact on the road today. In fact, the brand has done nothing less than completely improve the all-new Honda Fit, making it even sportier and driver-friendly for the 2015 model year. The car is so all-around excellent, in fact, that it recently landed a spot on the 10 Best Family Cars for 2015 list from Parents Magazine and Edmunds.com.

The Honda Fit has always reminded us of either a raindrop or a bullet. Whichever image you prefer, though, one thing remains the same: the Fit is a zippy and efficient little missile that will get you where you want to go, especially in busy urban settings. The new third-generation Fit comes with more standard features such as automatic headlights, Bluetooth capability, LED taillights, and a six-speed manual transmission. It also comes with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that jets out 130 horsepower and 114 lb-ft of torque.

The Fit comes in no less than five trim configurations, so come see us at Avery Greene Honda to learn more about each of those trim levels and their options. We can tell you in advanced that the baseline LX trim gets the best gas mileage, especially when equipped with the CVT transmission. With tons of exterior and interior options—including vibrant color schemes and aesthetic accessories—and Honda’s special “Magic Seat,” this small car is big on both fun and performance.

Honda’s Africa Twin Return for 2015 Gets Debut

HondaHonda made a huge reveal earlier this month, concerning one of the brand’s most beloved models. The automaker recently decided to put the Africa Twin–one of their most popular motorcycles ever–back on the European market.

The all-new CRF1000L Africa Twin will have all the technological advancements of about a decade to show off, in addition the classic Africa Twin appearance. Plus, it will have Honda’s totally unique Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT)(3) technology.

Honda has been slowly leaking details about the Africa Twin over the better part of a year, sneaking out small teasers and bits of information. Now–finally–it’s been announced for real. You can even check out an image of the 2015 Africa Twin here.

Tragically, this model will only be available in Europe, but maybe if there’s enough renewed interest in the Africa Twin return across the pond, the product could be brought to the United States.

The new 2016 Honda Civic design has officially been revealed thanks to CivicX.com and its ability to dig up patent drawings from Honda. The drawings reveal what both the coupe and sedan style Civics will look like…and we’re excited!

The Civic Coupe concept that originally debuted at the New York Auto Show earlier this year gave us some insight as to what the new production model would look like. Now, according to the drawings, the new Civic will keep some of the elements from the New York concept, which definitely makes us happy! In addition, it will feature more angular headlamps and front fascia, but the tail lamps will not be much different.

If you’re interested in breaking down all of the differences concerning the 2016 Honda Civic reveal, check out the side-by-side of the patent drawings and the concept that debuted in New York.
