Boxy Honda Concept D Debut Occurs in Shanghai

HondaHonda revealed an all-new concept model at the Shanghai Auto Show earlier this month, showcasing what could likely be a future production vehicle. This bold crossover concept, called “Concept D,” has the aggressive, boxy front of a truck with the slim, angular body of a crossover.

The truck look continues with the Concept D’s huge 21-inch wheels. It doesn’t appear to have an exhaust tip, however, so many are speculating the model will be an electric car.

While we don’t know what exactly this concept could precede, we are hoping that it does go to production, and further–that the production model hits US markets. The Honda Concept D debut in Shanghai leads us to believe it will be China-only, but fingers crossed!

Here’s a gallery of the concept, so you can check it out for yourself. What do you think of the Honda Concept D? Share your thoughts with Avery Greene Honda in the comments.

Honda Civic Type R’s Nurburgring Lap Time Trounces Old Record

In stunning fashion, the Honda Civic Type R officially clobbered its past Nurburgring lap time and crushed stereotypes about a front-wheel drive in the process. The upcoming 2015 Civic Type R posted a lap time of 7:50.63, beating the previous front-wheel drive record of 7:54.36.

Honda released the video of the Civic Type R’s lap time and it will surprise you as much as it did anyone else. The turbocharged Type R generates 306 horsepower and has a top speed of nearly 170 mph; it’s outfitted with a three-pedal manual gearbox.

The Honda Civic Type R’s Nurburgring lap time is only 10 seconds off of the pace of the Porsche Cayman GT4 and 30 seconds off of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS.

Although the Honda Civic Type R is only bound for Europe we at Avery Greene Honda still love it just as much! If you want to see the full video of the Civic Type R’s Nurburgring lap time check out the video below.

2016 Honda Pilot

Year of Honda Continues with Upgraded 2016 Honda Pilot Launch

The Honda brand has officially claimed 2015 as the “Year of Honda,” and so far, the brand’s product lineup is doing an excellent job backing that claim. After the new Honda CR-V was named the 2015 Motor Trend SUV of the Year, a new 2016 Honda Pilot further bolstered the Honda SUV lineup. The new Pilot premiered at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show.

The Pilot retains the formula which has made the full-size, three-row SUV so popular, but adds tweaks in all the right places. For example, it comes with new Earth Dreams Technology powertrains, LED headlights, running lights, and taillights, and a panoramic roof option.

“This means the all-new Pilot will comfort, entertain and assist active families in all aspects of their lives, whether it’s an evening out for two, a road trip adventure for all or just the chores of everyday life,” summed up Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of Honda Division, at the 2016 Honda Pilot launch.

The Honda Pilot is chock-full of technology as well, helping you keep the whole family entertained, either on long trips or just riding home from school. You’ve got the Display Audio system, the HondaLink connected-car system, and even a 9” entertainment system with Blu-Ray capability. Come see us at Avery Greene Honda to learn more about the Year of Honda.

NHTSA Announces Honda Fit’s Five-Star Safety Rating

2015 Honda Fit

2015 Honda Fit Available at Avery Greene Honda

While compact cars tend to offer high fuel economy ratings and terrific performance, many consumers are hesitant when it comes to safety in these small cars—unless they purchase the 2015 Honda Fit. The spacious subcompact hatchback was recently awarded a Five-Star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), following up the vehicle’s previous Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS. With these top-notch safety scores, the Fit has proven that a small vehicle can still offer big safety.

“The Fit shows that owning a smaller car doesn’t mean you need to skimp on space, comfort or crashworthiness,” said Art St. Cyr, vice president of auto operations at American Honda Motors. “Honda’s commitment to the safety of your customers and other road users is second to none, and the Fit demonstrates this commitment in a powerful way.”

For many consumers, the Honda Fit already offers the best of both worlds with its superior passenger and cargo space, combined with innovative technologies. These technologies produce the Honda Fit’s five-star safety rating, with an Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure that improves frontal crash energy management.

If you are interested in learning more about the 2015 Honda Fit, make sure you stop into the Avery Green Honda showroom and give the Fit a test drive.

History of ASIMO

Enough about cars and events; let’s take a look at robotics. More specifically, let’s look at the history of ASIMO, Honda’s operational humanoid robot.

unknown beings

Learn more about ASIMO at Avery Greene Honda

In 1986, Honda took up a new challenge: create a two-legged, walking robot. The first three models were engineered to walk like a human. The next three dealt with stabilization and stair climbing. The first humanoid, the P1, stood 6’ 2” tall and weighed over 350 pounds. The next model, the P2, improved walking, climbing, descending, and wireless automatic movement. The final model, the P3, stands at 5’ 2” and weighs 287 pounds.

Today, ASIMO can run and walk on uneven ground, turn without error, climb stairs, grab objects, and respond to simple commands. Other abilities and miracles of engineering are facial recognition for a small group of people, mapping its environment via camera eyes, and avoiding moving obstacles as it walks.

The future of ASIMO looks bright as it tours the world to inspire young students. Someday ASIMO may serve as a set of eyes, ears, arms, or legs for those who can’t use their own. It may also fight fires and clean up toxic spills. ASIMO has come a long way in the past few decades; we at Avery Greene Honda don’t think that’s surprising, though—it is Honda’s handiwork after all.

Honda Developments Revealed in Detroit

FCV Is One of Many Exciting Honda Developments Revealed in Detroit

Honda Developments Revealed in DetroitRather than present a bunch of flashy concept cars that never go into production, Honda decided to blow people away with its plan for automotive domination at the recent Detroit Auto Show. Those plans had everything to do with how Hondas get around.

In the gasoline department, Honda released a few details on an entirely new family of engines. Without saying which exact models would be receiving the new engine, the automaker said it would be a four-cylinder VTEC turbo engine. Honda is spending a mere $340 million to get the engines made at its Anna, Ohio plant. We should see the new machine in action by the end of 2015.

In the alternative fuel department, Honda did indeed present a concept at the Detroit Show. The FCV is a sleek, very futuristic-looking fuel-cell vehicle with a projected range is 300 miles. Best of all, its fill-up time only takes about three to five minutes.

That wasn’t all! Honda divulged plans to develop both a battery-electric vehicle as well as a plug-in hybrid in the near future. We at Avery Greene Honda are excited about the future of the Honda Developments Revealed in Detroit.

Honda Alternative Fuel Civics

2015 Honda Civic

The 2015 Honda Civic lineup is growing, offering more options than ever before—and it looks like they’re only going to get greener. Joining the already-released Civic Sedan, Civic Coupe, and Civic Si are the 2015 Civic Hybrid and Civic Natural Gas. These two Honda alternative fuel Civics provide consumers with fuel-efficient choices when considering the Civic model, all for a low price.

The Civic Hybrid boasts an impressive EPA-rated fuel rating of 45 miles per gallon combined, while the Civic Natural Gas boasts a 31 mpg combined fuel rating. Because of their impressive fuel economy, the American Council for Energy-Efficient Economy recognized these two vehicles as part of the top ten Greenest Vehicles of 2014. But these Civic models aren’t just fuel-efficient—they offer plenty of sophisticated features, too.

These features include a 7-inch touchscreen Display Audio, which helps view and control a variety of systems including audio, phonebook, media, and vehicle information. It’s also the platform for HondaLink. A rearview camera comes standard on all Civics, while a Smart Entry with Push Button Start helps the Civic Hybrid start with ease.

With all these features and terrific fuel economy, there’s no denying that the Honda alternative fuel Civics are a great way to save on fuel costs. Stop in to Avery Greene Honda to see what these models have to offer.

Honda's plants conserve energy

Honda’s Plants Conserve Energy and Earn ENERGY STAR Certification

Honda's plants conserve energyHonda is dedicated to protecting the environment and our future. Because of this, three of Honda’s plants have earned the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ENERGY STAR certification. This will be the ninth year in a row two of Honda’s Ohio facilities have earned this award and the third consecutive year for its Indiana plant.

“Every Honda facility makes special efforts every day to improve the energy efficiency of our manufacturing operations, as we continually strive to reduce the environmental impact of our operations,” said Karen Heyob, who leads Honda’s environmental sustainability initiatives in North America, in a statement. “This culture is only achieved by involving every associate in the process, not just delegating the task to certain specialists.”

Honda’s plants conserve energy in a variety of ways. At the Ohio plants in Marysville and East Liberty, they opted for efficient LED lighting in a new consolidation center and are installing an innovative hydrogen fuel cell system to use on its tow motors and fork lifts.

At the Indiana plant, employees installed an energy monitoring system to identify ways to conserve energy, including turning off unused equipment during breaks and between shifts.

Here at Avery Green Honda, we are proud to be part of such an environmentally-conscious company.

Top Safety Pick+ Honda CR-V

Top Safety Pick+ Honda CR-V Wins Designation from IIHS

Top Safety Pick+ Honda CR-V

2015 Honda CR-V

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has confirmed the new Honda CR-V is a 2015 Top Safety Pick+, the highest honor a vehicle can strive for in terms of safety.

Becoming a Top Safety Pick+ is no easy feat for any vehicle. The Honda CR-V had to score the highest possible rating of “good” in four of the IIHS’s crashworthiness evaluations—moderate front, side, roof, and head restraint—as well as a “good” or “acceptable” rating in the recently-added, rigorous small overlap front crash test.

It also needed to achieve a superior or advanced rating for frontal crash prevention, which it earned thanks to the new Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver assistive technologies. With helpful features like Forward Collision Warning and Lane Keeping Assist System, drivers behind the wheel of a Honda CR-V are not only safer but even less likely to crash in the first place!

Improve your safety on the road by visiting Avery Greene Honda and obtaining a Top Safety Pick+ Honda CR-V.
