Top Safety Pick+ Honda CR-V Wins Designation from IIHS

Top Safety Pick+ Honda CR-V

2015 Honda CR-V

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has confirmed the new Honda CR-V is a 2015 Top Safety Pick+, the highest honor a vehicle can strive for in terms of safety.

Becoming a Top Safety Pick+ is no easy feat for any vehicle. The Honda CR-V had to score the highest possible rating of “good” in four of the IIHS’s crashworthiness evaluations—moderate front, side, roof, and head restraint—as well as a “good” or “acceptable” rating in the recently-added, rigorous small overlap front crash test.

It also needed to achieve a superior or advanced rating for frontal crash prevention, which it earned thanks to the new Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver assistive technologies. With helpful features like Forward Collision Warning and Lane Keeping Assist System, drivers behind the wheel of a Honda CR-V are not only safer but even less likely to crash in the first place!

Improve your safety on the road by visiting Avery Greene Honda and obtaining a Top Safety Pick+ Honda CR-V.

2015 Honda CR-V

It is no question that Honda has a legacy of producing high quality vehicles that are also extremely innovative. The brand has won multiple loyalty and value awards, and rightfully so. With the new and revamped 2015 Honda CR-V only just hitting the market at the beginning of this month, Honda is adding yet another trophy to its case: 2015 Motor Trend SUV of the Year.

What ultimately swayed the decision of the judges at Motor Trend? A large part of it had to do with the abundance of new features being offered in the 2015 CR-V.

“The 2015 Honda CR-V impressed our judges with its extensive list of delightful design and thoughtful engineering improvements,” said Motor Trend  editor-in-chief Ed Loh. “Our editors were especially impressed by Honda’s responsive and efficient continuously-variable transmission and sophisticated safety systems – particularly the smart and seamlessly integrated Lane Keeping Assist system. Efficient, practical, and a joy to drive; the 2015 Honda CR-V does virtually everything well.”

New features available in the 2015 Honda CR-V include a new direct-injected Earth Dreams Technology™ i-VTEC® mated to a new CVT, which results in an 11% boost in torque and estimated fuel economy improvements of 3 combined mpg.

Other standard features include a center console armrest, sliding sunvisors, and rear console ventilation ducts. All of this in addition to improvements to the chassis, braking, and overall exterior aesthetic.

With a reputation of safety and value, how could you not get on board and own a new Honda? Get your hands on the 2015 Motor Trend SUV of the Year now at Avery Green Honda!

Honda Connect: The Best Infotainment Money Can Buy

Infotainment systems have very much become part of the vehicle market landscape.  When considering the purchase of a new car, buyers are giving increased consideration to the kind of system featured in that car. Those buyers in the market for the new 2015 Honda Civic, Civic Tourer, and CRV will not be disappointed!

Honda calls its new system Honda Connect. It’s based in Android and the operating system for Connect is Google OS.  Honda has developed specific apps to use with the car and these can be easily downloaded into the system, including a Garmin GPS app. Any Android app can also be downloaded.

Functions include your standard fare, like CD player, FM radio and Bluetooth. The Connect also includes Mirrorlink, which helps your Smartphone connect up to your infotainment system.

Buyers should really dig the Connect’s customizable nature. Multiple options are offered for your home screen layout. Also, install a photo-editing app and you can use any photo you want as wallpaper.  Maybe a portrait of you leaning against your new Civic?

Honda Accord and CR-V Are America’s Most Popular Car and SUV

As kids, we’re taught to do the right thing, even if it isn’t popular. Occasionally, however, the right thing and the popular thing are one and the same. Such is the case for the Honda Accord and CRV, which are America’s most popular mid-size car and SUV, respectively, for the first half of 2014.

2014 Honda Accord

The Accord is America’s most popular car for the first half of 2014!

According to data supplied by IHS Automotive, the retail sales of both the Honda Accord and CR-V have surpassed segment competitors’ sales during the first half of 2014.

If this trend continues, the Accord is on its way to once again be the best-selling mid-size car on the retail market, and the CR-V will continue its decade-long streak as America’s best-selling SUV.

“More individual customers put a new Honda Accord in their driveway in the first

half of this year than any other new car in America, and SUV buyers continue to choose CR-V more than any other SUV in America,” said Jeff Conrad, Honda Division senior VP and general manager. “While competitors rely on deep-discounts and sales to corporate and rental fleets, Honda continues to achieve steady and sustainable growth based on the quality and value of our products in the hands of individual customers.”

The Honda Civic and Odyssey also led their segments in most retail sales from January to June of 2014.

When it comes down to it, Honda vehicles have repeatedly earned the title as “Most Popular in America” because they continue to prove themselves to be the right car for so many customers. CR-V wins Compact SUV Shootout

The Honda CR-V took the top spot in the Cars.com, USA Today and MotorWeek $25k Compact SUV Shootout.

Cars.com asked real families to test drive several under-$25 small SUVs, and the test drivers loved the CR-V’s features and comfort. The SUV got points for great technical conveniences, including easy-to-use Bluetooth features and a standard touch screen.  Interior ergonomics and a sunroof, even at lower price points, also made for a great passenger experience. One mom commented that the CR-V “drives like a dream!”

Beating out the Mazda CX-5, Chevy Equinox, and Ford Escape, the CR-V takes the prize in this test drive!

Two Hondas named to 2012 Used Car Best Bets

Edmund’s has released its 2012 Used Car Best Bets – and Honda has captured the Compact SUV and Minivan categories. The 2005-2010 Honda CR-V and the Honda Odyssey made over the same years are promising used models.

Edmunds says that, “space-efficient, fuel-efficient and easy to drive and own, the Honda CR-V does almost everything well.” Because the small crossover starts at an affordable price point, it retains its value while still being affordable. Plenty of low-mileage used CR-Vs are on the market.

The Honda Odyssey has retained its value over the years, but its V6 engine (the most powerful in the segment) huge interior, hideaway third-row seat, top safety scores and solid reputation for quality and reliability make it worth the money. The 2005-2010 body styles are attractive, nimble, and convenient.

Looking at a used car can be the right decision for some buyers. And, used cars may be becoming cheaper. The National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) reported in April that we could see the price of used cars decrease this summer, and they have recently confirmed that report.  In fact, some models’ value could drop by $900 in only one month.
