Honda Key by Amazon In-Car Delivery Offers More Convenience

Key by Amazon In-Car Delivery | Vallejo, CA

When you order something online, it can be stressful knowing that you might be at home to receive it — especially if it’s an important package. Now, if you subscribe to HondaLink® Remote Services connected-car system, you no longer have to worry about your packages.

That’s because Honda and Amazon have teamed up to offer owners of select Honda vehicles — who also have Amazon Prime — the chance to get their packages delivered to their vehicles.

“The addition of Key by Amazon In-Car Delivery to our HondaLink Remote Package of in-vehicle services comes at no additional cost to subscribers, yet another way we are creating new value for Honda customers,” said Daniel Tiet, project leader, connected business development for American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “This latest addition to HondaLink provides a new service, heightening the Honda owner experience in this increasingly connected world.”

This new delivery feature is available at no additional cost to those Honda owners who have select trims of the following vehicles:

  • Honda Accord
  • Honda Accord Hybrid
  • Honda Insight
  • Honda Passport
  • Honda Pilot
  • Honda Odyssey

The vehicle must have a HondaLink® Remote Package subscription and the owner must be located in one of 50 cities and surrounding areas supported by this service.

Then, when you order something from Amazon Prime, you simply park within a two-block radius of your selected delivery address. You will receive a four-hour delivery window and an “Arriving Now” notification from the delivery driver. At that point, the driver can scan the package and request for the vehicle to be unlocked. The driver will then place the package inside the vehicle and the vehicle will be locked again — it’s that simple.

Honda Self-Driving Cars Approved for On-the-Road Testing

factoryAdd Honda to the list of nearly a dozen automobile manufacturers who have been approved by the California Department of Motor Vehicles for testing autonomous vehicles on the road. Other companies on the list include Nissan, Volkswagen, and Tesla; until recently no one had been aware of the testing of Honda self-driving cars.

The company has apparently kept this secret well. After unveiling a prototypical Acura RLX concept last year with the sensors and computing power required of an autonomous vehicle, Honda has not said another word about its foray into the self-driving car segment. However, it reportedly has been testing these vehicles at a Honda testing facility in Concord, California, just north of San Francisco.

Just this year, the famous Google car logged 1.8 million miles, and the NHTSA and IIAS announced they were open to the possibility of requiring automatic braking systems in new cars in the future. Those benchmarks, in addition to the sheer amount of manufacturers testing electric autonomous cars, show that this may be where the future of the auto industry lies. Honda self-driving cars could be an excellent investment in coming years for the company.

New Honda Commercial “Ignition” Is One of the Best Yet

The new Honda commercial called “Ignition” will blow you away. It packs a ton of imagery and action into a 90-second clip that references all of the best things from the automaker’s heritage—like Formula 1 racing, aviation, robotics, and of course its consumer automobiles.

You’ll get a glimpse of Asimo the Robot, current McLaren-Honda driver Jenson Button, the all-new HR-V, the upcoming Civic Type R, and even the voice the late Ayrton Senna, one of the most revered Formula 1 driver of all time. The ad was created by the British firm Wieden+Kennedy for Honda Motor Europe and ends with the following tagline: “Dare to do what others only dream of.”

We have to admit it’s one of the brand’s best commercials yet. It’s grand and orchestral and although the whole thing runs 90 seconds, there’s so much shown that it’ll probably take more than single viewing to absorb everything. We certainly won’t mind watching again.

Boxy Honda Concept D Debut Occurs in Shanghai

HondaHonda revealed an all-new concept model at the Shanghai Auto Show earlier this month, showcasing what could likely be a future production vehicle. This bold crossover concept, called “Concept D,” has the aggressive, boxy front of a truck with the slim, angular body of a crossover.

The truck look continues with the Concept D’s huge 21-inch wheels. It doesn’t appear to have an exhaust tip, however, so many are speculating the model will be an electric car.

While we don’t know what exactly this concept could precede, we are hoping that it does go to production, and further–that the production model hits US markets. The Honda Concept D debut in Shanghai leads us to believe it will be China-only, but fingers crossed!

Here’s a gallery of the concept, so you can check it out for yourself. What do you think of the Honda Concept D? Share your thoughts with Avery Greene Honda in the comments.
