2019 Honda Passport Safety Rating Gets Top NHTSA Score

2019 Honda Passport | Vallejo, CA

The 2019 Honda Passport recently achieved the 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration as part of the New Car Assessment Program.* In earning the highest score that NHTSA offers for safety, the new Passport establishes itself as a confident, family-friendly option. What’s more, NHTSA’s recognition of the 2019 Honda Passport means that every Honda vehicle tested in the NCAP has earned the highest possible score for safety.**

The Honda Advanced Compatibility Engineering™, or ACE™, body structure has been significant in helping Honda vehicles earn these high safety ratings. ACE™ uses font-frame structures to absorb and deflect the energy created from a frontal collision, helping to reduce the likelihood of injury.

The 2019 Honda Passport safety rating was also helped by its Honda Sensing® suite of safety and driver-assistance technologies. This suite, which is standard on the Passport, helps increase the driver’s awareness of his or her surroundings with technologies like Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™), a Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and a Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS).

This technology also comes standard on the 2019 Accord, Clarity series, Insight, Pilot, and Civic.*** Over 85 percent of all new Honda vehicles sold in 2019 have had the Honda Sensing® suite. Honda has sold over 2.1 million vehicles equipped with this technology since its introduction in 2015.

*Government 5-Star Safety Ratings are part of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s New Car Assessment Program (www.safercar.gov). Model tested with standard side airbags (SAB).

**2019 Civic Type R, Clarity series and CR-V not yet tested

***Excludes Civic Si and Type R

The 2019 Honda Passport is the newest addition to the Honda SUV lineup, and it’s starting to make a name for itself. This midsize SUV was recently named an Autotrader Best New Car for 2019, one of only 12 new vehicles to earn this recognition.*

“The Passport is one of the few SUVs where the ‘sport’ and ‘utility’ totally and tangibly make sense in the same vehicle,” said Brian Moody, executive editor for Autotrader. “We like the Passport because of its rugged look and just the way it comes off like a younger, feistier version of the Honda Pilot.”

Autotrader’s editorial experts decided on the Passport as one of the winners by a unanimous vote. To be considered for this award, the vehicle much be a current or next model-year vehicle and available for purchase at the time of the awards announcement.

Honda Pastport April Fool’s Day Joke Brings Back ’90s Nostalgia

Honda Pastport April Fool’s Day

On the first of every April, people across the country get up to some major hijinks, thanks to April Fool’s Day. This year, Honda was no exception. The Japanese carmaker got into the April Fool’s Day spirit this year by posting about the brand-new Pastport trim for the 2019 Passport — an entirely fictitious model, but one that we really, really wish were true.

The fictional Pastport trim is a ’90s-inspired version of the Passport, which features a throwback interior that highlights popular ’90s features, including automatic windows, a cassette player, and plush micro-fiber seats. It even has a mount for your beeper!

“From TV reboots to fashion, the ’90s are making a huge comeback, and we saw an opportunity at Honda for consumers who want uniqueness and simplicity, so we decided to reach back and bring the Pastport to market this spring,” said Zack Tanner, historical innovations manager for Honda. “We think the new Pastport is all that and a bag of chips.”

While this nostalgic trim level isn’t actually available, you can come in to Avery Greene Honda to check out the actual Passport. This ruggedly handsome SUV is the newest addition to Honda’s SUV lineup. It comes with an available all-wheel-drive system, standard safety technologies, ample power, and an abundance of interior space to make it a solid choice in its segment.
