It was announced in mid-October that Honda will install 120 EV chargers at Honda Headquarters in Torrance, California. The goal of adding these chargers is to encourage the use of electric vehicles and other cars using alternative fuels.
A new generation of plug-in vehicles both hybrid and fully-electric is due by 2018, and Honda wants to prepare for this with the installation of charging stations. The installations will take place in two stages, the first of which is currently going on.
Honda plans to use this opportunity to support the Torrance community as well by installing a fast charging station near the headquarters for the town’s residents to use on their daily commute. Steven Center, the vice president of Environmental Business Development and the Product Regulatory Office, said that “making workplace charging ubiquitous and accessible is the cornerstone of an effective public charging strategy.” He went on that it’s necessary to make driving an EV a convenient option, especially for those who don’t have access to chargers at home.
