This week, in response to the tornado disaster that affected Oklahoma City and surrounding areas, Honda announced an open donation of Honda vehicles to the Red Cross.

In addition to a pledge to the Red Cross guaranteeing the use of as many Honda vehicles as needed for cleanup following Monday’s disaster, a charity event was staged at the Honda-owned Honda Center arena in Anaheim, CA to aid those affected by the event. Conducted by local news channel ABC7, the event helped raise over $211,000 to provide victims of the storms with food and money for reconstruction.

The tornado, which hit Oklahoma City and Moore, OK on Monday, left over 20 dead and created an estimated $2 billion worth of damage.

Other automakers, including Ford and Toyota, have made similar pledges to the Red Cross, offering monetary donations to those in need.
