2019 Honda CR-VThe Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) works to ensure all vehicles out on the road are tested for their safety, awarding those that succeed at their crash tests. For the 2018 and 2019, the CR-V has managed to receive the IIHS’ highest rating of “Superior” on its pedestrian detection and crash prevention tests.

“The tests highlight the need to consider the safety of all road users when designing advanced safety systems like those included in Honda Sensing®,” said Jay Joseph, assistant vice president of product planning for American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “We have sold nearly 1.8 million Honda vehicles equipped with Honda Sensing in the United States, underscoring our leadership and commitment to the widespread application of these important technologies.”

Along with these top-notch crash avoidance ratings, the Honda CR-V IIHS safety ratings also earned the vehicle a “Top Safety Pick” rating from the IIHS when equipped with LED headlights and Honda Sensing®.

Currently, the Honda Sensing® technologies come standard on the EX trim level and above. These trims account for 81 percent of American CR-V sales in 2018, which highlights the appeal of driver-assistance technologies. It includes tech like a Collision Mitigation Braking System™ with Forward Collision Warning, Road Departure Mitigation with Lane Departure Warning, a Lane Keeping Assist System, and Adaptive Cruise Control.
